Idell Returns To Eureka As Volleyball Head Coach

Eureka College Athletic Director Steve Thompson has announced the hiring of Becca Idell as the new interim head coach of the women's volleyball program.

Coach Becca Idell

Idell comes to Eureka after serving as a coach at Normal University High School in Normal, Ill. for the past two seasons. Additionally, she coached the Illini Elite Volleyball Club in Bloomington, Ill. for three years that included a third-place finish at the AAU National Championships in 2015. She currently works full time as a financial aid specialist at Illinois State University.

A 2012 graduate of Eureka College, Idell was a four-year member of the volleyball program and two-year team captain. She was a member of the 2009 volleyball team that is the only team in school history to make the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

"We are excited for Coach Idell to take over the volleyball program," said athletic director Steve Thompson.  "As a young professional, she has a great enthusiasm for the game of volleyball and her alma mater.  She will really continue the growth we have seen in recent years. There is a great nucleus of returning talent surrounded by some competitive young talent that will be very exciting to see.  I can't say enough about how excited I am for this season."

Idell replaces Jess Brown, who stepped away from coaching and took over as assistant director of residential life/coordinator for campus involvement and the Title IX coordinator role on campus.
