Mitchell Joins 1,000 Kill Club

In a brisk 61 minute match, the women's volleyball team handed Iowa Wesleyan a three set loss on a night that saw Greenville's Allyson Mitchell hit the 1,000 kill plateau.

Greenville handled Iowa Wesleyan quickly in the the first two sets, gaining 25-11, 25-12 wins. The third set was tighter as GC slipped by a 25-20 margin.

Freshman hitter Cheyenne Vaca was the top kill producer for Greenville as she had 10 in three sets.

Mitchell, Savannah Sells, and Sierah Ruffner each had seven kills.

Mitchell joined Michea McKay, Corinne Coon, Katelin Feyerabend, and Nicole Schaeffer as Greenville volleyball players to reach 1,000 kills in head coach Tom Ackerman's career.  She is on pace to challenge McKay for the modern record with 1,342.

Defensively, the Lady Panthers were led by the 12 dig performance of Janisha Pealer.  At the net, Sells had three solo blocks and four block assists as she contributed to a total of 12 points.

The Lady Panthers (18-5, 11-2 SLIAC) travel to Illinois-Springfield on Tuesday night before visiting Fontbonne on Wednesday.
