Greenville Trekking to Wisconsin-Whitewater For Regional

The Greenville women's volleyball team has been placed in the Whitewater regional, hosted by the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.  The Panthers qualified for their third NCAA national tournament and second consecutive by winning the championship of the SLIAC tournament.

Greenville (25-7) will play the host UW-Whitewater Warhawks on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Other teams in the eight team regional include Hope, Elmhurst, Washington-St. Louis, Heidelberg, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and Bluffton.

If the Panthers win their first round game, they would play on Friday against the winner of Hope and Elmhurst.

The regional championship is scheduled for Saturday.

The Lady Panthers went 0-2 this season against teams in their regional, picking up three set and four set losses to Washington-St. Louis.

They played two other NCAA qualifying teams and were 0-2.  They opened the season against Wisconsin-La Crosse and tangled with Millikin in a mid-season match.

Greenville's remaining three losses were against NCAA Division II Illinois-Springfield, Webster, and Westminster.  Greenville avenged their SLIAC losses with the elimination of Webster and Westminster in the SLIAC tournament.

The Lady Panthers picked up key non-conference wins this season against Benedictine (IL), New Paltz State, Kenyon, and Rose-Hulman.
