"This award shows how the hard work throughout my career has paid off," said Reeg. "Setters don't usually get a ton of credit, so being recognized with such an honor is very rewarding.

A total of 14 members are selected to the first team, and six members are selected as honorable mention. Reeg is the program's first-ever player to receive AVCA honors.

"For Kayla to be named in the top 20 players in our region is a perfect capstone to her career," said Westminster Head Coach Curtis Madson. "Kayla has had one of the best careers out of any player in the program's history and I couldn't be more proud of everything she has achieved."

During the 2016 season, Reeg recorded 1,191 assists and ended her career as the program's assist lead at 4,554. She was second on the team in aces and digs with 46 and 349, respectively.

"The program has taken a 180 since I've been here, and being the first student-athlete to receive this award shows where the program is headed in the future," said Reeg. "I'm very happy with the mark that I left with the help of my teammates, and I know that I won't be the last to receive this."
