Spalding's Heitzman Records 1,000th Career Kill

The Spalding University volleyball team swept Blackburn College, 3-0, Monday night at Derek Smith Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles move to 16-8 on the season, and 10-4 in the conference, while Blackburn falls to 1-22 overall and has yet to win a SLIAC game at 0-14.

The Golden Eagles dominated in all areas during the match, taking the sets 25-7, 25-9, and 25-18. During the second set, senior, Victoria Heitzman earned her 1000th career kill as a Golden Eagle. She is only the second Golden Eagle to achieve this accomplishment since SU joined the NCAA in 2012. Heitzman earned five kills and two aces during the match.

Alyssa Cosgrove continues to be a force for the Golden Eagles, tallying 15 kills on the night. Jessica Diehl added ten more, along with an ace, and five digs. Kaitlin Hall led SU in assists totaling 22 on the night. Defensively, SU earned four blocks to Blackburn's one and 38 digs versus 25 for the Beavers.

The Golden Eagles will now prepare to host Webster University for a "Dig Pink" game Thursday, October 20th. The SLIAC match is set for 6 pm EST at Derek Smith Gymnasium.
