Help Raise Money For Cystic Fibrosis; Catch SLIAC Action This Weekend At MacMurray

MacMurray College will once again be holding a Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Day, this year on Saturday, September 9. You can join in helping raise money for the foundation while also catching some St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Volleyball action all afternoon long. 

Half of the teams, five, from across the SLIAC will be in action on Saturday in Jacksonville, Illinois with a total of five matches being played. Match times are at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. with dual courts occurring during the first two time slots. There will be free admission to all matches.

In action, this Saturday will be Fontbonne University, Greenville University, Iowa Wesleyan University, MacMurray College, and Spalding University. MacMurray and Spalding will play on one court at 11 a.m. while Greenville and Fontbonne will face each other on a second court at the same time. The 1 p.m. matches will be Fontbonne against Spalding and Iowa Wesleyan against Greenville. The final match of the day features Iowa Wesleyan against MacMurray at 3 p.m.

MacMurray will have a silent auction held in the gym lobby and donations will be accepted throughout the day. All proceeds will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Gateway Chapter in St. Louis.

Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, established in 1955, is the world's leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. Their mission is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care. 

The SLIAC is a NCAA Division III conference with 10 members across four states. Members include Blackburn College, Eureka College, Fontbonne University, Greenville College, Iowa Wesleyan University, MacMurray College, Principia College, Spalding University, Webster University, and Westminster College. The SLIAC, founded in 1989, sponsors 14 NCAA Division III championship sports.
