2018 Volleyball Players of the Week

SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 29
Abby Freeman, Greenville University

Abby Freeman receives her sixth weekly award this year after closing out the regular season with 54 kills last week in two wins. Freeman tallied 24 kills and 12 digs in a 3-1 win over Eureka, adding nine aces. She topped that performance with 30 kills in a five-set win over Fontbonne, finishing with 11 digs as well. On the week she averaged 6.0 kills per set while hitting .250 and chipping in with 2.56 digs per set.

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 29
Mia Gill, Principia College

Gill, a senior from Elgin, Ill., picks up her third award of the season. She recorded 68 total digs on the week, in just two matches; averaging 7.56 digs per set. Gill set a Principia record for digs in a four-set match with 43 in a win over Westminster. Gill also added three service aces on the week.

SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 22
Abby Freeman, Greenville University

Abby Freeman takes home her 5th player of the week award this fall after pounding out 66 kills in three matches. She averaged 5.5 kills per set, hitting .277 on the week. Freeman had a high of 27 kills against Spalding and finished the week with 81 points, averaging 6.8 points per set. 

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 22
Kristen Farrah, Webster University

Kristen Farrah wins her 4th weekly award this season after averaging 7.58 digs in four conference wins last week. Farrah had three matches with over 20 digs on the week including a high of 27 digs in a win over Spalding. On the week she set a school record for digs in a season and she currently leads all Division III players in digs per set. 

SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 15
Torie Grassi, Webster University

Grassi, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., powered the Gorloks offense in two conference wins. Grassi hit .327 on the week, committing just two errors in 55 chances while putting down 20 kills. She had a high of 13 kills in a sweep of Eureka. On the week Grassi finished with 21 points, averaging 3.5 points per set.

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 15
Kristen Farrah, Webster University

Kristen Farrah receives her 3rd weekly award this fall for SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Farrah, a sophomore from St. Charles, Mo., tallied at least 27 digs in both of her team's matches last week. She had a high of 29 in Webster's sweep of Greenville and followed with 27 in a three-set sweep of Eureka. For the week Farrah averaged 9.33 digs per set and now has 16 matches with 20 or more digs this season.

SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 8
Abby Freeman, Greenville University

Freeman continues her hot streak with another conference weekly award, her fourth this season. Freeman, a sophomore, had two matches with more than 20 kills last week, finishing with 59 kills in four outings. She averaged 5.36 kills per set, hitting .323 on the week. Freeman put down 23 kills against both Iowa Wesleyan and Blackburn. She also added seven aces on the week and averaged 6.3 points per set.

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 8
Mia Gill, Principia College

Mia Gill, a senior from Elgin, Ill., finished with over 100 digs in three matches last week; averaging 8.5 per set. Gill set a program record with 54 digs against Westminster. She totaled 102 digs in the three matches and added two service aces.

SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week - Oct. 1
Anna Finch, Greenville University

Anna Finch had an impressive week on the attack for Greenville last week, hitting .509 in a pair of conference victories. Finch put down 29 kills with just one error, averaging 4.83 kills per set. She had a high of 17 kills in a sweep of Principia and followed with 12 more kills in a sweep of MacMurray. On the week she averaged 5.6 points per set, recording 33.5 points overall.

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Oct. 1
Kristen Farrah, Webster University

Farrah, a sophomore from St. Charles, Mo., picks up her second player of the week award this year. In two wins last week Farrah averaged 9.67 digs per set, totaling 58 digs in the two matches. She had a high of 33 digs in a win over Iowa Wesleyan and has recorded double-digit digs in all 15 matches this season. She currently leads the conference and Division III in digs per set.

SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 24, 2018
Abby Freeman, Greenville University

Freeman picks up her third SLIAC weekly award this season after an impressive week which saw her put her name in the Panthers record book. Freeman put down 31 kills in a five-set win over North Park, setting the program mark for kills in a match. On the week she totaled 102 kills in five matches, averaging 4.86 per set. She was just as dangerous with her serve, recording 20 aces. On the week Freeman averaged 6.2 points per set. 

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 24, 2018
Mariah Markert, MacMurray College

Markert, a freshman from Mount Sterling, sparked the Highlanders to three victories last week. The freshman was a force at the net, recording 15 total blocks, an average of 1.50 per set. She had a high of six blocks in a win over Blackburn and recorded multiple blocks in all three matches. 

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 17
Abby Freeman, Greenville University

Freeman grabs her second straight award after helping the Panthers to three wins last week. She finished with 69 kills in just four matches, averaging 5.3 kills per set while hitting .408 on her attempts. She had two matches with 19 kills and added 13 total blocks on the week. For the week she averaged 6.5 points per set and finished with just 16 errors on 130 swings.

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 17
Anna Finch, Greenville University

Anna Finch claims SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors after an impressive week at the net. Finch, a sophomore middle blocker, totaled 17 blocks on the week including four solos. She averaged 1.31 blocks per set in four matches and currently leads the conference in that category. Her high came in a sweep of Spalding with nine blocks.

SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Abby Freeman, Greenville University

Abby Freeman is the SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.3 points per set while helping Greenville to a pair of wins last week. Freeman, a sophomore, put down a high of 18 kills against Webster and reached double-digit kills in all three matches on the week. She added eight service aces including five against Eureka as well as eight total blocks. On the week she totaled 45 kills, averaging 4.1 per set. 

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Mia Gill, Principia College

Gill, a senior libero from Elgin, Ill., picks up her first SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award for the season. Gill totaled 96 digs in three matches last week, all wins. She had a high of 39 digs against Fontbonne and added 32 digs against Iowa Wesleyan. On the week Gill averaged 6.9 digs per set and added three aces.

SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 4
Samantha Kruse, Webster University

Samantha Kruse, a sophomore from Waterloo, Ill., led the Gorloks to a 2-0 start in their season-opening matches last weekend. Kruse tallied 31 total kills in the two wins, hitting .284, and averaging 3.44 kills per set. She had a high of 16 kills against Benedictine, adding two aces. Kruse also recorded 32 digs in the two matches. On the week she finished with 35.5 points and three service aces.

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 4
Kristen Farrah, Webster University

Farrah, a sophomore from St. Charles, Mo., was busy on the defensive side of the court last weekend, recording 69 digs for the Gorloks in their two wins. Farrah started the night with 24 digs against Lincoln College before putting up 45 digs against Benedictine. That mark was the second most in program history. On the weekend she averaged 7.67 digs per set and added three service aces and 14 assists.
