Four Members Earn AVCA Team Academic Award

Four programs from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference received recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for their academic success, receiving the Team Academic Award. Iowa Wesleyan University, MacMurray College, Principia College, and Webster University were among the 973 teams have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2017-2018 season, breaking the previous year's total of 835 to set an all-time high. The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. 

Iowa Wesleyan, MacMurray, Principia, and Webster were among the 173 schools from NCAA Division III to receive the honor. This marks the second time in program history that the Iowa Wesleyan team received the honor, joining the 2006 team. This is the second straight year that MacMurray has received recognition and the fifth time in the last six years. Principia is receiving their 9th award including their fifth consecutive. Webster is receiving recognition for the 12th time in program history including their 10th consecutive year. The Gorloks also finished in the top 25 of all NCAA Division III teams, receiving AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll. In addition, Webster also was recognized for reaching their Dig Pink fundraising goal through the Side Out Foundation.
