Fontbonne Athletes Give Back During Holiday Season

Several Fontbonne University athletic teams have gotten caught up in the holiday spirit, volunteering their time throughout the St. Louis community during the past month.

"I think it shows the character of our student-athletes and coaches that so many of our teams are finding community service events to participate in during this busy time of year," Fontbonne University Director of Athletics Maria Eftink said. "Being a student-athlete at the collegiate level means so much more than just wins and losses, and I think our student-athletes are doing a great job setting that example."

The Griffin baseball team recently volunteered their time at the Delta Gamma Center for Children Shining Tree lot. Over 35 Fontbonne baseball players helped customers carry and load their Christmas trees on December 11th. Proceeds from the Christmas tree lot went to the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments.

The Fontbonne University men's and women's soccer teams as well as the women's softball team volunteered at the Community Action Agency of St. Louis' Winter Wonderland Event. The teams assisted families participating in the event by shopping for presents and gift wrapping them for the families.

The Griffin men's lacrosse team participated in the Fontbonne for Families holiday event. The program is coordinated on campus through Fontbonne in Service and Humility (FISH). The team adopted a family through this event and provided clothing, toys and personal items.
