D3 News Releases Preseason Previews
DIII News, a publication focusing on NCAA Division III men's basketball, has released their 2013-14 Preseason publication focusing on conference previews and Preseason All-Americans.
The monthly publication highlighted the top three schools from each conference and listed this year's teams to watch in the SLIAC as Spalding University, Westminster College and Eureka College. In addition they picked MacMurray College's Clayton Whitlock as the SLIAC Preseason Player of the Year and a Honorable Mention Preseason All-American. Below is their full preview on the SLIAC for the 2013-14 season.
"Defending champion Spalding (20-8) must replace three starters
and more than 47 points per game from last year’s NCAA
Tournament team. The Golden Eagles do return senior guard Thomas
Blakemore (8.1 ppg), who is expected to take a bigger share of the
scoring load this year. Westminster (19-7) could be a factor in the
SLIAC race with three starters return-
ing, including Verdis Lee (13.1 ppg) and Joe James (12.4 ppg).
Eureka (18-9) will feature a totally new look after losing its top
six players, including all five starters, from last season. The
Red Devils will turn to a number of underclassmen to step in and
fill major roles."
