Fontbonne Women's Soccer Receives Silver Team Ethics Award

St. Louis- The 2013 Fontbonne University women's soccer team was recently awarded the 2013 NSCAA Silver Team Ethics Award. This is the second year in a row women's soccer has achieved this award.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.

To be eligible to receive this award, a team must have received zero red cards and no more than five yellow cards throughout the season.

The Team Ethics Award is divided into the following three categories:

Gold: No cards accumulated during the season

Silver: No red cards and no more than five yellow cards accumulated during the season

Bronze: No more than 10 cards accumulated during the season

Being honored with this award demonstrates the strides that Fontbonne is taking to keep in line with the Fontbonne and St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conferece (SLIAC) sportmanship policies.

During the 2013 season, the Griffins totaled three yellow cards. Last season the Griffins finished the 2012 season with just two yellow cards.

Fontbonne finished the 2013-2014 season with a 10-6-4 overall record and a 6-2-1 SLIAC record.
