Tigers Give Time and Service to Community Event

The Iowa Wesleyan College athletic programs continued their dedication to service and volunteering, as they gave of their time in helping with Mt. Pleasant's Old Threshers Reunion.  The Old Threshers Reunion, which ran from August 24-September 2 this year, brings in thousands of visitors to town each year.  The Tigers' athletic teams recorded 1,584 hours of service to help the event run smoothly.

The Tigers worked a variety of jobs and projects with the event, including working ticket gates along with the Fellowship Cup, directing traffic, setting up and tearing down food booths, working the food booths, setting up the stages for performances, working the lights, picking up litter, and several other duties.

"We were very pleased with the role the Iowa Wesleyan student-athletes played in helping this event run smoothly," said Old Threshers CEO Lennis Moore.  "It was very nice to see the purple and white on our grounds working alongside our many other volunteers."

It was an extremely hot week for the Old Threshers Reunion, as Moore said the 2013 Old Threshers Reunion will go down as possibly one of the hottest ones in the history of the event.  "The student-athletes were a breath of fresh air," said Moore.
