SLIAC Players of the Week - Dec. 2

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced its Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week for December 2. This week's winners are Seth Wickert from Eureka College and Ciara Morgan from Blackburn College.






 

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Seth Wickert, Eureka College

Wickert, a junior guard from Macomb, Illinois, scored a career-high 30 points in a narrow loss to North Park last week. Wickert tallied his 30 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. He added six rebounds, four assists and four steals in the game while knocking down 8-of-9 free-throws.

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Ciara Morgan, Blackburn College

For the second consecutive week Morgan is the league's Player of the Week. Morgan, a junior forward from Springfield, Illinois, put together a rare feat in her only game of the week, recording a 20-20 effort in points and rebounds. Morgan scored 24 points and added 22 rebounds in a 112-89 loss to Dubuque. Morgan also added seven assists and four steals in the contest.

 

SPECIAL MENTION

  • Jessica Guy, Spalding University- Guy put together a standout performance in her team's game against Transylvania, netting 18 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.
  • Kevin Miller, Webster University- Miller recorded a double-double in his only outing of the week, scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
  • Jamie Moore- Blackburn College- Moore picked up back to back double-doubles last week, averaging 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game while also adding 2.5 blocks per game. 
  • Kelsey Shoemake, Eureka College- Shoemake recorded a double-double in her lone outing of the week, scoring 26 points, on 13-of-18 shooting, and adding 15 rebounds.
  • Karla Vietinghoff, Iowa Wesleyan College- Vietinghoff led her team to an upset win over #16 Simpson with a 17 point, eight rebound and three steal performance.
