SLIAC Players of the Week - March 3

This week marks the first week of the Diamond Sports/SLIAC Players of the Week for the spring seasons. This week's Players of the Week are Rob Berger, from Fontbonne University; Scott Ross, from Principia College; and Kelsey McDowell, from Spalding University.

BASEBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK
Rob Berger, Fontbonne University

This week's Diamond Sports Hitter of the Week is Rob Berger, a senior shortstop from Shiloh, Illinois. Berger led the Griffins to a 12-10 win over Washington University (Mo.). In the game Berger went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Berger also maintained a perfect fielding percentage, with one put out and two assists in the game.

 

 

 

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Scott Ross, Principia College

Scott Ross, a senior pitcher from Glen Rock, N.J., is this week's Diamond Sports/SLIAC Pitcher of the Week. Ross made one appearance last week, registering a complete game 1-0 shutout against Robert Morris-Springfield. Ross allowed just three hits while striking out three and walking none. Ross also handled all four fielding attempts perfectly as he guided the Panthers to a win in their 2014 season opener.

 

 

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK
Kelsey McDowell, Spalding University

This week's SLIAC Softball Player of the Week is Kelsey McDowell. McDowell, a sophomore infielder from Louisville, Ky., helped the Golden Eagles offense get off to a strong start this season. McDowell hit .500 on the week as Spalding scored 15 runs in a pair of games. She started the season off with one hit and a run scored in a loss to Centre. McDowell then went 3-for-4 with one home run and five runs batted in during the second game of the double header. She added three runs scored and two doubles on the week while finishing with a 1.250 slugging percentage.
