Spalding President to be Keynote Speaker at NCAA Convention (December 12, 2013)
A former Division III student-athlete who became the first woman to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean  and one of the first two women to ski cross country to the South Pole will be the keynote speaker for the Division III business session at the 2014 NCAA Convention.....MORE

Webster Announces 2014 Hall of Fame Class (December 30, 2013)
Webster University Athletics announces three former Gorlok athlete greats and a long-time department employee as the newest members of its Hall of Fame.  Angela Martinez (women's soccer), Brett Mueller (baseball), Gail Vogt (softball), and Sue McClintock (Office Manager) were voted to the class of 2014....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Rae, a junior forward from Staunton, Ill., is this week's SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week after leading her team in scoring in a game against Linfield on Sunday. Rae netted 23 points, nearly half her team's points, while grabbing a game high 15 rebounds including 10 offfensive rebounds. Rae was 11-of-23 from the field and added three steals in the game.

The Eureka Women's Basketball team will put their undefeated conference record on the line when they return from break next week. The Red Devils will host Greenville College on Tuesday, Jan. 7 before hitting the road against Spalding on Jan. 9.

The Fontbonne University men's basketball team returned from a 14-day break to face #9 ranked Washington University-St. Louis on Monday, falling to the Bears 87-50. Fontbonne's Darius Rucker led the team in scoring with 12 points off the bench.

The Greenville men's basketball team returns to action this Friday, Jan. 3 when they host Loras College. The game will be the Panthers first contest in nearly a month. Their last outing was a 98-58 win over Blackburn on December 7.
The Iowa Wesleyan women's basketball team competed in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Coe College last weekend, splitting a pair of games. The Tigers capped off the tournament with a thrilling triple overtime win over Nebraska Wesleyan on Sunday. Dakota Flesner recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while Karla Vietinghoff led all scorers with 26 points.
The MacMurray men's basketball team got back into the win column with a 69-57 win over the University of Dallas. The Highlanders shot 58-percent from the floor and held a 40-28 lead at halftime. Clayton Whitlock led MacMurray with 12 points in the win while Dylan Burton added 10 points.
The Principia women's basketball team is 2-2 over their last four games. They return to action next week on Jan. 7 when they host Webster University at 6 p.m. The men's team is back in action on Jan. 4 when they host Loras College at 3 p.m.

The Spalding men's basketball team puts their four game winnint streak, the longest active streak in the SLIAC, on the line this weekend when they return to action against Fontbonne University on Saturday at home.

The Webster University women's basketball team completed their trip to the West Coast last weekend by going 1-1 during the swing. The Gorloks fell to Pomona College 66-60 and topped Cal Tech 84-64. In the win Courtney Pursley notched 20 points and 12 rebounds for her third consecutive double-double.
 For the second consecutive week Joe James,was been named the Men's Basketball Player of the Week. James' week was highlighted by a 32 point effort in his team's 82-80 win over Coe College. James went 10-of-17 from the field and 11-of-12 from the free-throw line as he paced all scorers. In two games for the week James averaged 21.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
