AROUND THE SLIAC

Alexis Richie helped the Blackburn Women's Soccer team pick up a pair
of wins last week, topping Lincoln Christian and Robert Morris-Lake County. Richie netted two goals against Lincoln Christian and followed with a three goal, one assist performance against Robert Morris that included the game winning goal.

The Fontbonne Volleyball team notched their first victory of the season last week with a 3-1 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Tuesday night. The Griffins won 22-25, 25-23, 25-19 and 25-20. Tara Ballman had a team high 16 kills while Abbie Bergtholdt added 11 kills.

The Lady Panther volleyball team extended their winning streak to 11 matches. Of their 11 consecutive victories only two have come without a sweep, both going into the fourth set. The Lady Panthers currently sit in first place in the SLIAC by one game.
Iowa Wesleyan's Savannah Blair had a game to remember against Stephens. Blair netted a school record nine goals and added one assist in her team's 15-0 win. Blair got off 19 shots in the game, including 16 on goal in helping her team to their first win of the season.
The MacMurray women's soccer team picked up a pair of wins last week, topping Faith Baptist Bible 4-0 and Lincoln Christian 9-0. With the pair of wins the Highlanders now have four wins this season, surpassing their mark of three wins last year.
Principia's Meg Anderson got some work in this fall for the Panthers women's tennis team. Anderson competed last week in the ITA Small College Regional. She feel to Zoe Kasivrak of Dennison by the scores of 6-3 and 6-0.
The Spalding Men's Cross Country team placed 10th this past weekend in the National Catholic Championships hosted by the University of Notre Dame. Spalding was led by Haile Jemane who finished 18th in the 8K race with a time of 26:31.
Webster sent a pair of women's tennis players to the ITA Regional Championships last weekend; Isabella Espinoza and Marissa Lewis. The duo won their opening doubles match but lost in the next round to the eventual runner-ups.
The Westminster cross country teams swept the SLIAC Player of the Week awards this season with Jessed Edwards taking the men's award and Sarah Koestner winning the women's award. Edwards finished his 8K race in 26:42 and helped his team to an 8th place finish while Koestner completed her 5K race in 18:58.
