AROUND THE SLIAC

The Blackburn College Men's Soccer Program will host a one-day clinic for high school seniors on Saturday, November 16. The clinic will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Blackburn College Soccer Field in Carlinville and cost $25.  Instruction will be provided by Rob Steinkuehler, the head men's soccer coach at Blackburn.

A pair of Red Devils' reached milestone marks for the volleyball program last week. Setter Emily Campbell moved into the top 10 on the program's all-time assist list and now has 942 in her four year career. In addition Kelli Dunne needs just three more kills to reach the top 10 in the program's career kills list.

The Fontbonne men's basketball team opens up the 2013-14 season with an exhibition game against Division I Saint Louis University on October 31st in Chaifetz Arena. This marks the second consecutive season the Griffins have played a Division I opponent in the preseason, after facing the University of Tennessee-Martin last year.

The Greenville volleyball team moved even closer to a SLIAC regular season title. With just two matches remaining the Panthers hold a one game lead over the second place team. It would mark the Panthers first ever outright regular season championship and their fourth title overall.
The Tigers men's soccer team recorded their first win of the season last week with a 3-1 road victory over Blackburn. They scored on three of their six shots on goal and the win marks the program's first victory in SLIAC play.
The MacMurray volleyball team wraps up their season this weekend with a tri-match at Fontbonne University on Saturday and a match against Greenville on Tuesday. The Highlanders will face Spalding and Fontbonne on Saturday in their tri-match. The Highlanders have already surpassed last season's win totals in both overall and conference play.
Both Principia soccer teams are battling to find a spot into the SLIAC Tournament. The men's team can clinch a berth into the tournament with a win on Saturday. The women's team is one of three fighting for the final two spots into the tournament.
The Spalding men's cross country team will be looking to repeat as SLIAC Champions this weekend. The Golden Eagles won last year's event after having the top two runners and three runners in the top seven.
With just one game remaining in the regular season the Gorlok women's soccer team has an eye on an undefeated conference season. They currently stand at 7-0 in SLIAC play and have won eight consecutive games. If they win on Saturday it would be their first undefeated conference season since 2006.
The Blue Jay men's soccer team has clinched a spot into the 2013 SLIAC Tournament and are currently tied for first in the standings with two other teams. The Blue Jays conclude the regular season on the road at Eureka College.

Be sure to participate in our Social Media fun each week with Trivia Tuesday, Throwback Thursday and Feature Friday.

Each Tuesday on Twitter we will ask a SLIAC trivia question where the first person to respond with correct answer wins SLIAC gear! Our question this week was: How many consecutive conference championships did the Greenville men's cross country team win? The correct answer was 11.

On Thursday's you can reminisce by looking at old photographs when we remember prior SLIAC Student-Athletes.

Friday's are Feature Friday's where we will get to know our current SLIAC Student-Athletes through a series of video interviews. This past week's Feature Friday video was Getting to Know Hayley Cooke (Principia College) Check it out HERE
