Westminster's Smulczenski Makes SLIAC History, Throws Out First Pitch

Westminster's senior Danielle Smulczenski made St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) history following her final track season as the first ever nine-time SLIAC Academic All-Conference team recipient.

Smulczenski was a three-sport athlete throughout her four years at Westminster. She competed in cross country, basketball and track and field and earned SLIAC Academic All-Conference recognitions during each eligible season. She maintained a 3.76 cumulative grade point average (GPA) throughout her collegiate career, marking the first time a SLIAC student-athlete has achieved this honor.

In order to be on the SLIAC Academic All-Conference team, one must be a sophomore, junior or senior member of a varsity team with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average or higher.

The conference has only had three other student-athletes that earned SLIAC Academic All-Conference honors in all three seasons in a year, including one that was a six-time recipient from Blackburn College.

Smulczenski graduated this past May with a degree in accounting and business administration and plans to work for the PGC basketball program this summer before starting her job with Ernst and Young in the auditing department in September.

Smulczenski was named the 2014-15 Westminster Senior Female Athlete of the Year. While at Westminster, she was a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. She was the Student Athlete Advisory Committee Treasurer for two years and a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She served three years in the Student Government Association (SGA) as the business class manager and was a part of the Finance Committee for all four years. She was also a member of Student Foundations for two years and an executive member for International Club her first two years on campus.
