SLIAC Welcomes Angie Morenz As New Commissioner
The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference welcomes Angie Morenz as the new commissioner of the NCAA Division III athletic conference. Morenz is a familiar face to the SLIAC and becomes just the second full-time commissioner in conference history.
"Ms. Morenz brings a sincere passion for the unique features offered in NCAA D III, in general and specific familiarity with the SLIAC," said Roger Burkman Spalding University Athletic Director and Chair of the SLIAC Administrative Council. "I believe we are poised to make some gains as a conference that will benefit our respective institutions and of course our student-athletes."
Morenz moves into the SLIAC Commissioner position after serving as the Director of Athletics at Blackburn College. In that role Morenz oversaw all athletic department budgets, monitored departmental student-athlete recruitment, advised the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and provided sport oversight for all coaching and support staff. Morenz was also responsible for developing alumni relations and supervising the Athletic Ambassador program.

The ten institutions of the SLIAC are unique entities that share a common vision which combines rigorous academic programs and competitive athletic experiences for their student-athletes. The student-athletes of the SLIAC are great examples of what can be achieved as NCAA Division III athletes; they are dedicated to their work in the classroom and on their chosen field of play."
Prior to her appointment as Director of Athletics Morenz spent six years at Blackburn College as Professor of Physical Education and Sports Management, where she developed content for Physical Education and Sports Management majors and served as academic advisor. During that time she also served as the Senior Women Administrator representative for Blackburn on the SLIAC Administrative Council.
Morenz graduated from Blackburn College in 1997 with a B.A. in Physical Education Management and served as an intern in the SLIAC office. While at Blackburn Morenz was a three-sport student-athlete and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. Upon graduation she obtained her Masters in Athletic Training from Indiana State University and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education in Leadership from United States Sports Academy.
"I am proud to be a product of NCAA Division III athletics and the SLIAC. The SLIAC has been a part of my life in one capacity or another for 10 years and I am excited to continue that relationship with, and for the sake of, student-athletes."
The SLIAC was founded in 1989 and is a 10 member conference featuring schools from four different states and sponsors 12 conference championships. Members include Blackburn College, Eureka College, Fontbonne University, Greenville College, Iowa Wesleyan College, MacMurray College, Principia College, Spalding University, Webster University and Westminster College.
