SLIAC Players of the Week - April 6
This week's SLIAC Players of the Week include: Kelly Adams, Josh Fleming, Jonathon Gandia, Bruce Gray, Alyson Hahn, Anna Houston, Becca Mouser, Logan Shoemaker, Brier Skogsberg, and Ray Vogel.

DIAMOND SPORTS/SLIAC BASEBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK Vogel, a freshman outfielder from Bartonville, Ill., helped the Red Devils to three offense power their way to three wins on the week including two over conference foe Iowa Wesleyan. Vogel had at least two hits in all four games on the week, finishing with a .583 batting average and nine runs batted in. He was 2-for-5 with two RBI in a win over Elmhurst to start the week. Vogel then went 7-for-12 in a three game weekend series against Iowa Wesleyan, hitting one home run and adding five runs scored. On the week Vogel was 9-for-17 at the plate with six runs scored and an .824 slugging percentage. |

DIAMOND SPORTS/SLIAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK Fleming, a freshman from Columbia, Ill., tied a school record with 14 strikeouts in a shutout win over Westminster College. Fleming went the full nine innings, allowing just four hits and walking none while notching 14 strikeouts in a 5-0 win. The win was Fleming's second of the season and his 45 strikeouts on the year lead the SLIAC.

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK Mouser, a junior from Shelbyville, Ky., was 4-for-5 in a double header against Transylvania, her team's only games on the week. Mouser started the day by going 2-for-2 while scoring the only run of the game. She reached base three times in the game, also walking, and added a stolen base. In game two Mouser sparked the Golden Eagle offense to a 15-14 win. Mouser went 2-for-3 with five runs batted in and two runs scored. Mouser finished with an .800 batting average and five RBI with three runs scored for the week, adding a .714 on-base percentage.

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK Hahn, a sophomore from O'Fallon, Mo., had a hand in all four of her team's wins last week, recording three wins and one save. Hahn notched two complete games, coming in game one of both double header series for the Blue Jays. She went five innings and allowed just four hits with four strikeouts in shutout win over Iowa Wesleyan. In game two she threw three innings of relief, allowing just one hit, while notching the save. In her team's series against Grinnell Hahn went seven innings and recorded two strikeouts while picking up the win. She returned in game two to throw four innings of relief and limit Grinnell to five hits while recording the win. On the week Hahn finished with a 2.95 earned-run average and 12 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched with just two walks. |

SLIAC MEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK Gandia, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky., had a strong showing in the SLIAC filled field of the Webster Spring Invitational. Gandia tied for 4th individually in the tournament, shooting a two day score of 149. He opened the tournament with a par round of 72 before closing out the weekend with a 77. Gandia finished just two strokes behind the tournament leader and helped his team tie for fourth place out of 16 teams.

SLIAC WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK Adams, a senior from Plano, Texas, was on a roll this week in competition going a 4-0 in her matches. Adams picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Fontbonne at the #2 singles position and followed with an 8-0 blanking in #1 doubles. She continued her strong week with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #2 singles over Greenville and added an 8-6 win in #1 doubles, teaming with Hanne Andersen for a come from behind win after being down 5-2 in the match.

SLIAC MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK Shoemaker, a freshman from Owensville, Mo., set a school record in the shot put this weekend, finishing in third place at the CMU Invitational. Shoemaker threw a distance of 14.26 meters, besting the previous school record by over a meter. His distance currently ranks second in the SLIAC this season.

SLIAC MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK Gray, a senior from Chicago, Ill., had three top two finishes over the weekend at the Greenville Select Meet. Gray took first place in the 100 meter race, finishing with a time of 10.73 seconds, as well as in the 200 meter race, with a time of 21.85 seconds. Gray capped his day by competing in the 4x100 relay where he took second place with a time of 42.06 seconds. His time in the 200 meter race is currently the best in the SLIAC this season.

SLIAC WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK Houston, a freshman from Union, Mo., had a busy day at the CMU Invitational setting three school records while competing in four events. Houston grabbed first place in the triple jump with a distance of 10.61 meters and added a second place finish in the long jump with a distance of 4.98 meters. Houston took third place in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 15.30 seconds and wrapped up her day with a fourth place finish in the high jump, with a mark of 1.45 meters. Houston set Westminster records in the triple jump, high jump, and 100 meter hurdles.

SLIAC WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK Skogsberg, a junior from Kirksville, Mo., took third place in the 5000 meter run while competing at the Central Methodist University Invitational over the weekend. Skogsberg finished with a time of 19:39.65, which is the sixth best time in the SLIAC this season.

Other Notables:
- Cale Laughlin, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Laughlin picked up 3-2 win over Spalding, going six innings and allowing no earned runs while striking out 13 batters.
- Marissa Lewis, Webster University (Women's Tennis) Lewis picked up six wins on the week and extended her winning streak to eight matches in singles action.
- Natalie Martindale, Eureka College (Softball) Martindale had five hits and four runs abtted in during a double header sweep of St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
- Amber Tepen, Westminser College (Softball) Tepen had a pair of three hit games while helping her team pick up four wins.
- Lyssa Winslow, Principia College (Women's Track and Field) Winslow took first place in the shot put and added a pair of third place finishes (discus and hammer throw) while setting a personal record in the hammer throw.
- Matt Wollnik, Webster University (Baseball) Wollnik went 8-for-9 in his first two games of the week, reaching base nine consecutive times and picking up eight straight hits over that span.
