SLIAC Players of the Week - Oct. 6

This week's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week feature seven student-athletes earning weekly honors for the first time this season. They include Dzani Delic, Daryl Doran, Kayla Dye, Nicole Kelly, Sarah Litwiller, Nathan Mark, Kayla Reeg, and Summer Switzer.

 

MEN'S SOCCER (OFFENSIVE)
Dzani Delic, Webster University

Delic, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., recorded his first career hat trick in a win over Eureka College. Delic notched the first three goals of the game, scoring all three in the first six-minutes of action. The win was the Gorloks second conference victory of the season and fourth overall win of the year.

 

 

 

MEN'S SOCCER (DEFENSIVE)
Daryl Doran, Westminster College

Doran, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., is this week's Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after helping lead Westminster to a 1-0 shutout win over Greenville College. Doran, a defender, anchored the Blue Jays defense that limited Greenville to just five shots in the game, two below their season average. Doran played all 90 minutes of the game as the Blue Jays defense recorded their second consecutive shutout and third shutout of the season.

 

WOMEN'S SOCCER (OFFENSIVE)
Kayla Dye, Webster University

Dye, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., helped Webster to a win over Eureka College in a conference game over the weekend. Dye tallied seven points in the win, recording three goals and and an assist in the win. Dye scored on three of her nine shots on goal in the game as the Gorloks improved to 2-0 in the SLIAC.

 

 

 

WOMEN'S SOCCER (DEFENSIVE)
Nicole Kelly, Blackburn College

Kelly, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., kept her team in the game against first-place Fontbonne. Kelly allowed just one goal while finishing the contest with 21 saves. Kelly stopped 11 shots in the first-half and added 10 more saves in the second-half. Kelly finished the game with a .955 save percentage as Fontbonne finished the game with 35 total shots.

 

 

 

VOLLEYBALL (OFFENSIVE)
Kayla Reeg, Westminster College

Reeg, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., helped the Blue Jays go undefeated on the week, sweeping three of four conference matches. Reeg helped run an efficient attack, hitting .214 as a team on the week. Reeg averaged 10.85 assists per set, balancing the attack with four attackers recording over 30 kills on the week. Reeg tallied a high of 39 assists in a win over Spalding and registered 30 or more assists in three of four outings.

 

 

VOLLEYBALL (DEFENSIVE)
Summer Switzer, Principia College

Switzer, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., is the Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.67 digs per set in three conference matches this week. Switzer had a career high 39 digs against Webster, averaging 7.8 per set while adding three assists and a kill in the match. Switzer finished the week with 68 digs in 12 sets and moved into second place on the program's all-time dig list.

 

 

 

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Nathan Mark, Spalding University

Mark, a junior from Union, Ky., placed 13th individually at this weekend's Greater Louisville Classic. Mark finished the 8k race with a time of 26:16.71, just over one-minute behind the race winner. Mark and the Golden Eagles finished 5th out of 42 teams.

 

 

 

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Sarah Litwiller, Principia College

Litwiller, a senior from Concord, Calif., is this week's Women's Cross Country Player of the Week. Litwiller finished 7th individually out of 134 runners in the field. Running on a forest course Litwiller finished her 6k race with a time of 23:42 and helped her team to a 5th place finish in the field of 14 teams. This is the second time this season Litwiller has earned weekly honors.

  • Nate Waters, Principia College (Men's Soccer) Waters recorded a hat trick in his team's win over MacMurray College and added the game-winning goal against Monmouth earlier in the week.
