Principia's Ross and Eureka's Shoemake Garner Player of the Week Honors

Principia College's Jeff Ross and Eureka College's Kelsey Shoemake have been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week. This marks the first week of conference awards for the 2014-15 basketball season.

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jeff Ross, Principia College

Ross, a freshman from Glen Rock, N.J., led the Panthers to a win in their 2014-15 season opener. Ross scored a game high 24 points in the 81-50 win over Lincoln Christian. Ross was 8-of-11 from the field. He added 14 rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots in the game while going 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. Six of his eight rebounds came on the offensive end while putting together a 2-to-1 turnover ratio.

 

 

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kelsey Shoemake, Eureka College

Shoemake, a senior from Groveland, Ill., opened the season with a bang; scoring 34 points in her team's come from behind win over Knox. Shoemake scored 19 of her 34 points in the second-half as the Red Devils came from behind for a 94-92 win. Shoemake was 15-of-23 from the field including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She added 15 rebounds, including five offensive rebounds, and one steal and one block.

 

 

Other Notables:

  • Ahmad Smith, Webster University (Men's Basketball) Smith poured in 30 points in his team's win over Knox; going 12-of-16 from the field including a perfect 4-of-4 from three point range.
  • Kayla Styles, Spalding University (Women's Basketball) Styles had an impressive collegiate debut recording 23 points and 17 rebounds in a win over Bluffton.
