SLIAC Players of the Week - Dec. 8

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week had breakout performances in helping their teams secure wins in the first full conference week of action. Congratulations to MacMurray College's Clayton Whitlock and Iowa Wesleyan College's Whitney Godden.

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Clayton Whitlock, MacMurray College

Whitlock, a senior from Springfield, Ill., helped the Highlanders notch their first win of the season in an 87-69 victory over Blackburn. Whitlock led all players with 27 points, hitting on 11-of-13 shots from the field. He added six rebounds and one blocked shot in the game while going 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Whitlock followed the win with another solid performance against Spalding, finishing with 18 points and nine rebounds. On the week he averaged 22.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 76-percent from the field.

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Whitney Godden, Iowa Wesleyan College

Godden, a senior from Mattoon, Ill., sparked the Tigers to a pair of conference wins on the week. Against Eureka Godden netted 22 points while adding four assists and four steals. She followed that with a record setting performance against Blackburn, finishing with 28 points including eight three-pointers; setting a new program record for three's in a game. On the week Godden averaged 25.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the field including 65-percent from three-point range.

  • Parker Davidson, Principia College (Men's Basketball) Davidson recorded two double-doubles on the week, averaging 17.5 points and 12.rebounds per game. 
  • Brandon Goeing, Spalding University (Men's Basketball) Goeing poured in 30 points in a 61-59 win over Spalding, knocking down five three-pointers in the game.
  • Brittany Harris-Conway, Webster University (Women's Basketball) Harris-Conway averaged a double-double on the week with 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game including a 29 point effort in a loss to Westminster.
  • CJ Moore, Webster University (Men's Basketball) Moore had a solid all-around game in a win against Principia with 20 points, four assists, and five steals.
  • Rachel Perea, Principia College (Women's Basketball) Perea averaged a double-double on the week with 11.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while adding 4.5 assists per game.
  • Kelsey Shoemake, Eureka College (Women's Basketball) Shoemake was impressive in her team's win over Fontbonne, recording 22 points and 20 rebounds.
