SLIAC Players of the Week - Dec. 22

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week are from Webster University, Hunter Ward and from Blackburn College, Briana Rae.

 

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hunter Ward, Webster University

Ward, a sophomore guard from St. Louis, Mo., helped led the Gorloks to a win over Central (Iowa) College last week. Ward played a well-rounded game in the 70-65 win, finishing with 11 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and two steals. In 31 minutes of action Ward committed just one turnover. This marks the second time this season Ward has earned weekly honors.

 

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Briana Rae, Blackburn College

Rae, a senior from Staunton, Ill., continued her recent torrid pace. Rae accounted for over half of her team's points last week, averaging 30.0 points in three outings. Rae also averaged 15.7 rebounds per game and shot 69.1 percent from the field. Rae had a high of 31 points against North Park, going 12-of-13 from the field. She added 30 points against Transylvania, going 12-of-15 from the field and closed out the week with 29 points and 20 rebounds against Bridgewater. Rae has recorded nine consecutive double-doubles on the season and picked up her second consecutive SLIAC Player of the Week award.

Other Notables:

  • Kelsey Shoemake, Eureak College (Women's Basketball) Shoemake recorded a pair of double-doubles last week, averaging 15.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game while shooting 59.1 percent on the week.
  • Kayla Styles, Spalding University (Women's Basketball) Styles finished with 15 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocked shots in leading her team to a conference win over Eureka.
