Webster University men's golf was one of the top four NCAA III teams in grade point average (GPA) as it received President's Recognition by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for its 2014 Team Academic Award.  This is the third straight year the Gorloks have earned the Team Academic Award, sponsored by the Farmers Insurance Group.

Racking up an impressive 3.674 team GPA for the year, Webster was one of only 20 colleges nationwide in all divisions to receive the President's Recognition.  Only 24 NCAA III schools received the Team Academic Award and Webster was the lone school from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) to be so recognized.  This was a marked improvement for the squad, which had a still respectable 3.3 cumulative GPA for the 2012-13 academic year.

The Gorloks had a very successful year on the course in 2013-14 as the team won the SLIAC Championship, then finished 25th in the NCAA III Championships.  Webster also had its first individual player make the cut for the NCAA Championships as Tyler Thorman (SO, Macomb, IL/Macomb HS) made it to the finals.

Head coach Andrew Belsky said of the award, "For a team to perform at that level in the classroom, while working hard and achieving success at their sport as well, shows a true commitment to the NCAA III ideals.  We start each year with a goal of maintaining a high standard of performance on the course and in the classroom.  This year's team has set the mark for future squads to live up to.  Its an honor to be recognized by the GCAA."

Webster won a SLIAC conference record sixth title in 2014, shooting an 877 for the tournament and recording the program's lowest round ever, 284, in the process.

To qualify for the GCAA Team Academic Award, a team must have maintained a cumulative 3.0 grade point average for the year.  Only 141 teams, from all six major athletic divisions in the U.S, qualified in 2013-14.  Those includ all four-year divisions (NCAA I, II, III, and the NAIA) and two-year (NJCAA DI, DII) golf programs.
