AROUND THE SLIAC
The Blackburn soccer teams recently celebrated recent and past
achievements at their annual banquet. The Beavers brought together
130 players, alumni, and friends of the programs to share in
stories from current head coaches Rob Steinkuehler and Tim Gould as
well as several soccer alumni honored during the banquet. |

The Greenville women's basketball team has dropped two straight
and will need to improve their road play if they want to break the
losing streak. The Panthers are 6-4 at home this season but just
1-5 on the road. The Panthers next two games will be at Blackburn
and at Westminster. Greenville is currently 7-9 overall and 4-6 in
the SLIAC. |

The Highlanders recently held their 2014 Volleyball Post Season banquet, honoring several student-athletes. Morgan Hauser was awarded the Offensive MVP while Rachel Kilver received Defensive MVP. Shayla Boen was named Most Improved Player while Aly Ferrari and Hollie Schultz were given the Co-Hustle Award. For a full list click HERE |
Principia's Larry Patterson tried his best to help his team knock
off MacMurray last weekend, scoring 31 points in his team's 79-69
loss. Patterson was 8-of-17 from the field and went 13-of-17 from
the free-throw line. He added eight rebounds and seven assists. On
the season Patterson is averaging 14.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and
3.5 assists per game. |

A recent surge by the Webster men's basketball team has propelled
the Gorloks into prime position for the SLIAC Tournament. Webster
has won three straight games; defeating Fontbonne, Blackburn, and
Westminster. The Gorloks have acheived this despite the loss of
leading scorer Ahmad Smith due to injury. |
The Blue Jays women's basketball team has taken over second place
in the SLIAC standings thanks to a four game winning streak. The
Blue Jays have taken down Fontbonne, Webster, Central Christian,
and Principia in order and are currently 11-5 overall and 9-2 in
the conference. |
After winning four consecutive games the Eureka men's basketball
team has dropped three straight, most recently falling 69-52 to
Spalding. Eureka will look to snap their losing streak with a pair
of road games this week as they face Principia on Saturday and
MacMurray next Wednesday. The Red Devils are chasing the final spot
in the SLIAC Tournament and are currently in sixth place, 2.5 games
back.
The Fontbonne men's basketball team has won two straight game and
closed in on the final spot in the SLIAC Tournament. The Griffins
are two games back now for the final spot and will face first place
Spalding on Saturday and then one of the teams they are chasing,
fourth place Greenville next Wednesday.
Iowa Wesleyan announced the addition of Kyle Halfpop as their new
head coach of the women's soccer program. Halfpop comes to Iowa
Wesleyan after most recently serving as the Academy Director and
coach in the Dakota Alliance Soccer Club. Halfpop has previously
served as an assistant coach at Central College and was the
Technical Director for the Pella Soccer Club. Halfpop is a 2005
graduate from Central College, where he was a captain and three
year All-Conference performer.
The Spalding women's basketball team extended their winning streak
to ten games and are now 12-0 in SLIAC play. The Golden Eagles
remain the top defensive team in the league, forcing nearly 20
turnovers per game and holding opponents to just 49.3 points per
game . The Golden Eagles will close out their four game road
stretch with games against Iowa Wesleyan and Fontbonne this
