AROUND THE SLIAC
The Blackburn men's basketball team is looking to stop a three
game losing streak. The Beavers have fallen to Iowa Wesleyan,
Westminster, and Principia in each of their last outings. The
Beavers are on the road Saturday against Webster as they will look
to get back into the win column. |

The Greenville women's basketball team is coming down to the wire
in their chase for postseason play. The Panthers are 6-8 in
conference play, holding onto the final spot into the SLIAC
Tournament. They have a half game edge over Webster and just a one
game lead over Principia. The Panthers will face both teams during
their final five games of the season. |

Although it has been a tough season for MacMurray, the Highlanders
do have two of the more prominent defenders in the league. Guard
Melinda Wilson ranks fourth in the conference in steals with 43
this season while her teammate center Megan Duisen ranks fifth in
the SLIAC in blocked shots with 36. |
The Principia men's basketball team stopped a five game losing
streak with a thrilling 68-61 win over Blackburn on Tuesday. The
Panthers placed four players in double figures in scoring with Jeff
Ross leading the way with 20 points, four assists, and four steals.
Parker Davidson added 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Panthers close
out the week on the road against Spalding. |

Despite dropping their last game the Webster men's basketball team
has maintained their position in the SLIAC standings, holding
strong for a spot into the SLIAC Tournament. Webster is 12-8
overall and 8-5 in the SLIAC, tied for third place. Webster faces
cross-town rival Fontbonne on Wednesday, whom they are tied with
for third place. |
The Westminster women's basketball team extended their winning
streak to six games with a win over Blackburn last week. The Blue
Jays have the longest active winning streak in the league and
currently sit in second place in the SLIAC standings, tied with
Iowa Wesleyan, and just one game behind Spalding. This week the
Blue Jays will host MacMurray and Central Christian Bible before
heading to Eureka to close out the week. |
Eureka College will host Pink Day this Saturday, February 14.
Eureka will wear pink socks during the game to show their support
for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure. Fans are also encouraged to
wear pink to the event. Donations will be accepted with all
proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen. There will be contests as
well as discounted concession stand items.
The Fontbonne men's basketball team has won five straight games to
climb into contention for the SLIAC Tournament. Fontbonne is now
9-11 overall and 8-5 in conference play, sitting in a tie for third
place in the standings. The top four teams in the standings advance
to the SLIAC Tournament, held Feb. 27 and 28 this year at the top
seed's site.
The Iowa Wesleyan men's basketball team is playing their best ball
of the season having won three straight games, matching their
longest winning streak since winning their first three games of
season. The Tigers have most recently topped Spalding, Blackburn,
and Webster to improve to 10-9 overall and 6-7 in the SLIAC. The
Tigers host Fontbonne on Saturday, which will close out their four
game home stand.
After suffering their first conference loss of the season two
weeks ago the Spalding women's basketball team has responded with
back to back impressive wins. The Golden Eagles defeated Fontbonne
63-48 and then took care of MacMurray 74-23 to improve to 14-1 in
conference play. Spalding has secured a spot in the SLIAC
Tournament but is still looking to wrap up the top seed, with just
