This week's SLIAC Game of the Week is between volleyball rivals Greenville College and Webster University.

Greenville College will host Webster University in this week's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Game of the Week. The two teams are among the 2015 SLIAC preseason favorites, with Greenville taking the top spot and Webster picked second. The match is set for Thursday, October 1st at 7 p.m. in Greenville, Ill. About Greenville
After a tough early season slate the Greenville Panthers have found their stride, winning nine consecutive matches entering the start of this week. During the Panthers winning streak they have swept six matches and currently sit at 10-5 overall and 6-0 in the SLIAC. The Panthers will face Eureka on Tuesday before their show down against Webster on Thursday night.

The Panthers rank as one of the more efficient teams in the league, ranking second in both kills per set (11.33) and hitting percentage (.202). The Panthers are also first with 1.90 blocks per set. Allyson Mitchell leads the team with 3.07 kills per set and is second in digs. Riley Hannula, a freshman, and Sierah Ruffner, a junior, are each hitting over .290 this season while Savannah Sells ranks second on the team in both kills and blocks. Defensively the Panthers are led by All-Conference stand out Jamie Schollenbruch, who is averaging 5.17 digs per set.

About Webster
Webster is currently 7-8 on the year, with a 5-1 record in the SLIAC, and will host Principia on Tuesday night before embarking on their road trip to Greenville later this week. They are coming off a win over Blackburn and will be looking to win back-to-back games for just the second time this season.

Webster is tops in the conference at 11.56 kills per set and are hitting .174 as a team. They are led in the attack by the duo of Jory Siebenmorgen and Rachel Nelson. Siebenmorgan, a junior, is averaging 2.96 kills per set while Nelson, a senior, is averaging 2.41 kills per set. Both players are hitting .277 on the season. The Gorloks use a two setter system with Emmi Murphy and Jilli Zimpfer taking control.

Game Notes:

  • Webster leads the all-time series against Greenville 35-13, although Greenville has won the last five meetings.
  • Greenville defeated Webster 3-2 on Saturday, Sept. 26 in a neutral site match. The Panthers won 25-22, 25-27, 25-16, 15-25, and 15-7.
  • Webster has won a SLIAC record 12 tournaments, including four in a row. The last team to win the tournament other than Webster; Greenville in 2010.
  • Did You Know? Either Greenville or Webster have won outright or gotten a share of the SLIAC regular season title each year since 2006, including Co-Championships between the two programs in 2011 and 2012.
