SLIAC Players of the Week - December 21

This week's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week are: Hunter Ward, from Webster University; and Emmie Haring, from Fontbonne University.

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
HUNTER WARD - WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

Ward, a junior from Kirkwood, Mo., led the Gorloks to a pair of wins in the Cruzin Classic in Florida over the weekend. Ward led his team in scoring in both wins, tallying 26 points against Trinity Baptist and 19 points against Ave Maria. Ward was 10-of-12 shooting, with two three's, in his team's win over Trinity Baptist; adding eight rebounds and two steals. He followed with a double-double against Ave Maria, grabbing 14 rebounds and adding three steals to go with his 19 points. On the week Ward shot 64-percent from the field and averaged 22.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game.

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BRIANNA MARKUSIC - MacMURRAY COLLEGE

Markusic, a freshman from Oaklawn, Ill., stood out above the rest last week as she averaged a double-double over through three games including a pair of 20 point efforts. Markusic tallied 20 points in just 21 minutes of action against Dallas, going 10-of-19 from the floor. Going up against Sewanee, Markusic scored nearly half of her team's points; finishing with 25 points while grabbing a career high 17 rebounds and adding six steals, five blocked shots, and four assists. Against Rhodes she finished with a game high 19 points while grabbing seven rebounds and swatting away five shots. On the week she shot 55-percent from the floor, averaging 21.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.3 blocks, and 2.3 steals per game.

  • Brandy Hunter, Spalding University (Women's Basketball) Hunter scored a career high 28 points in a 98-83 win over St. Mary of the Woods, adding five assists and a career high nine rebounds.
