SLIAC Game of the Week: Fontbonne vs. Blackburn (December 1, 2015)
Fontbonne and Blackburn will tip off their 2015-16 SLIAC play on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. in the Dunham Student Activity Center on the campus of Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Mo. Wednesday's game will not only be the the conference opener for both Fontbonne and Blackburn but will mark the first conference games for a pair of first year head coaches; Fontbonne's Lance Thornhill and Blackburn's Steve Kollar.....MORE
Webster Announces Five in Hall of Fame Class (December 1, 2015)
Webster University and Director of Athletics, Scott Kilgallon, are pleased to announce five Gorlok greats as the newest members of its Athletics Hall of Fame. Brady Barke (basketball, golf), John Cooksey (basketball), Kjersti Ehrie (cross country), Andrew Fuiten (baseball), and Jessica (Kozeny) Gorsuch (soccer) were voted to the class of 2016.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC
First year Men's Basketball head coach Steve Kollar will bring his Beavers to Fontbonne University this week in this week's SLIAC Game of the Week. Kollar and the Beavers will open up their 2015-16 conference action against the Griffins while also in search of their first win this season. Game time is set for 8 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo. |
The Red Devil basketball programs picked up the first conference wins of the 2015-16 season on Tuesday night when they swept Principia College. The Red Devil women's team won 80-61 behind 30 points from Luci Weis, coming back from an 18-4 deficit to start the game. The men's team won 91-85 with Sam Feehan leading the way with a career-high 31 points, including 5-of-7 from three-point range. |
Fontbonne freshman Jessica Jordan was named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week after her standout game against Knox College. Jordan, a forward, recorded her first career double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. She was 9-of-14 from the field and added two steals, one block, and one assist. Jordan is currently averaging 14.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. |
The Greenville men's basketball team is just 1-5 on the season but their games have been one to watch. The Panthers are averaging 115.5 points per game, getting off nearly 100 shots per game with their new style of offense. They are averaging 15.3 three's made per game and have two of the conference's top four scorers in Tim Daniel (19.7 ppg) and DeAndre Brown (18.3 ppg). |

MacMurray sophomore Brent Long was named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Long helped the Highlanders go 1-1 in the Cavallo Classic, earning All-Tournament honors, averaging 22.5 points and 11.0 rebounds on the week. He netted a high of 26 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, in a win over Rust. He followed with 19 points against Luther and shot 58.8 percent from the field on the week. |
The Principia women's team got off to a fast start in their 2015-16 conference opener, jumping out to an 18-4 lead over Eureka. However foul trouble put the Panthers in trouble and saw Eureka climb their way back into the game and in the end pick up a win. Sophia Hathaway led the Panthers with 22 points while Kara Johnson added 18 points and a game high 17 rebounds. |

The Webster men's basketball team hosted the Cavallo Classic last weekend, going 1-1 on the weekend with a win over Loras but falling to Rust. The Gorloks made several runs during the game but were never able to get closer than six points in the final ten-minutes of action. Hunter Ward led the way with 21 points and was named the Classic MVP. |
The Westminster softball team was one of five teams in the SLIAC named NFCA All-Academic. The Blue Jays finished the 2014-15 year with a 3.49 cumulative grade point average. In addition nine players were named All-America Scholar-Athletes: Anne Baker, Abby Bartley, Ashley Flood, Alyson Hahn, Brittany Hodge, Kelsi Hill, Madison McKindley, Kim Morrison, and Shannon Perrigo. |
