AROUND THE SLIAC
The Blackburn women's basketball team is headed into a light portion of their schedule with just two games over a 17 day span. The Beavers will go out of conference play to host North Park this Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by a game against Illinois College on December 30 at 7 p.m. Blackburn returns to SLIAC action on Jan. 2 against Webster. |
The Red Devils men's basketball team returns to action after nearly two weeks off to host Knox College in their final non-conference game of the season. Knox holds a 7-5 edge in the series, including winning their last meeting 75-60 back in 2010. Eureka enters the game with a 2-6 overall record while Knox is currently 1-6. The Fontbonne men's basketball team notched their first conference win of the year last weekend, with a 79-70 home win over Spalding. The win snapped the Griffins two game losing streak and improves them to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the SLIAC. Ben Kissing led the way with 20 points while Jared Greenlee added a season high 15 points with seven rebounds. |
The Greenville women's basketball team had their two game winning streak snapped in a 56-46 loss on the road to Culver-Stockton on Tuesday night. It has been a busy first-half of the season for the Panthers as they have played a conference high 10 games at this point. They will now head into break and will return to action on Jan. 2 with a conference game at Spalding. |

MacMurray went on the road to face #1 ranked Augustana College (Ill.) on Tuesday night and gave the Vikings a run for their money before fading down the stretch. MacMurray was tied with the top ranked team 38-38 at halftime but shot just 25-percent in the second-half, falling by the final of 86-62. Deavis Johnson led the Highlanders with 21 points while Mike Cameron added 15 points and Brent Long finished with 13 points. |
Principia's Kara Johnson had a day to remember last Saturday as she poured in 37 points during her team's 77-71 win over MacMurray. Johnson went 12-of-28 from the field and 13-of-17 from the free-throw line. Johnson added nine rebounds in the contest along with two steals and two assists. The win marks the Panthers first victory this season. They will play again on December 30 when they host Millikin. |

While the temperature at home may be dropping the Gorlok basketball teams will be headed for warmer weather. The men's and women's teams are headed to Ft. Lauderdale for the Trip Sports Cruisin' Classic. The men's team will face Trinity Baptist and Ave Maria while the women will take on Piedmont and Loras. |
The Westminster Blue Jays men's basketball team remains just one of two SLIAC teams that are still undefeated in conference play. The Blue Jays improved to 3-0 in the SLIAC with a 94-82 win over Iowa Wesleyan last Saturday. They will step out of conference play for their next two games, against Oglethorpe and Austin Peay, before returning to SLIAC action on Jan. 2 against Fontbonne. |
