SLIAC Players of the Week - March 5

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week include Monica Behrle, Wyatt Dale, Clay Kelly, Jimi Keating, Morgan Mansur, and Katie Price. 

 

SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 5

Clay Kelly, Spalding University

Clay Kelly was active in all five games for the Golden Eagles last week, picking up at least one hit and driving in at least one run in all five games. Kelly hit .529 on the week with one home run and 11 runs batted in. He put together three multi-hit games including a 3-for-4 game against Wisconsin-Platteville; in which he also drove in a weekly high four runs. Kelly also had three games with multiple RBI and crossed the plate four times on the week. He finished 9-for-17 at the plate with a .625 on-base percentage and a .882 slugging percentage. 

   

SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 5

Jimi Keating, Spalding University

Jimi Keating continues his strong 2018 season by claiming his second straight SLIAC Pitcher of the Week award.  Keating, a senior from Bardstown, Ky., worked seven scoreless innings in a win over DePauw. He allowed just two hits and walked only two batters, facing just 26 total batters in the complete game win. Keating struck out eight while picking up the win and held opponents to a .091 average in the game. 

 

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 5

Katie Price, Westminster College

Price, a sophomore, had three hits in a doubleheader against Wisconsin-Platteville. Price went 1-for-2 with one RBI in the opening game. She helped the Blue Jays to a 10-2 win in game two, going 2-for-3 at the plate with four runs batted in. On the week she hit .600 with a .714 on-base percentage. 

 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 5

Morgan Mansur, Webster University

Mansur made two starts for the Gorloks last week including picking up the victory in their 5-0 win over #15 ranked Washington University-St. Louis. Mansur, from Decatur, Ill., worked a total of 13 innings on the week, holding a 0.54 earned-run average while striking out three and allowing just one earned run. In her win against WashU Mansur picked up the complete game shutout while allowing just five hits. 

 

SLIAC MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 5

Wyatt Dale, Principia College

Dale, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., went 3-1 on the week for the Panthers. He won both singles matches while playing at the #1 spot and added another win in #1 doubles. Dale notched a 6-2, 7-5 win over Grinnell, the Panthers only win of the day, and followed with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Division II opponent Truman State. In doubles play he teamed up with Greg Sovie for a 9-7 win over Truman State. 

 

SLIAC WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 5

Monica Behrle, Webster University

Behrle, a senior, started off her final collegiate season by tying the program record for career singles wins. Behrle tacked on two singles wins last week, moving her career total to 58. She picked up a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Shawnee State and then followed with a win over Bethel while playing in the team's top spot. Behrle also recorded two doubles wins, playing with Madison Watts, winning 8-2 and 8-5.

  • Ian Cassidy, Westminster College (Baseball) Recorded a win over Robert Morris-Peoria, going seven innings and allowing one run while striking out nine.
  • Jake Kearney, Principia College (Baseball) Picked up two wins for Principia, allowing just one earned run over 10 innings while allowing just seven hits.
  • Courtney Kedrowski, Fontbonne University (Softball) Closed out her week on a three-game hitting streak and drove in three runs in her teams game against Claremont. 
  • Brett Lange, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Threw four innings of relief, striking out eight and allowing just two hits.
  • Morgan Mansur, Webster University (Softball) In addition to picking up the win in the circle against #15 WashU Mansur was also 3-for-3 at the plate in the game while tying a program record with three doubles in the same game.
  • Matt Mulhearn, Webster University (Baseball) Picked up a win over Transylvania, going 6 innings and allowing just two hits while striking out six.
  • Alex Payne, Iowa Wesleyan University (Baseball) Went 6-for-11 in a three-game series against Robert Morris-Springfield with a grand slam and eight runs batted in.
  • Mason Price, Westminster College (Baseball) Finished 5-for-8 with four RBI in final two games of series against Robert Morris-Peoria.
  • Erin Smith, Eureka College (Softball) Recorded a complete game shutout win over Mt. Aloysius while striking out six.
