Softball Takes Game One Against Greenville in Doubleheader
GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Fontbonne University softball team split with Greenville University Saturday afternoon. The team improves to 17-13 on the season and 8-2 in conference play.
GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Fontbonne University softball team split with Greenville University Saturday afternoon. The team improves to 17-13 on the season and 8-2 in conference play.
Game One:
The Griffins defeated Greenville, 3-2.
On the top of the first, Grace Paez hit an RBI single to the right field bringing home Lilly Jones. Grace Paez then scored on a throwing error by left field, 2-0.
Greenville scored two runs to tie the game.
On the top of the fifth, Lilly Jones hit a sac fly to score Mackenzie Howell with the last run of the game and the win for the Griffins.
Hailey Kutz (6-4) got the win after pitching the complete game. She struck out 13 and allowed eight hits and two runs.
Game Two:
Greenville blanked the Griffins in six innings, 8-0.
Lilly Jones, Ashley Carrow and Ellie Bartlett each had one hit.
Kassidy Chrisco went 2-for-2.
Sam Foppe (2-3) took the loss in the circle. She struck out one while allowing five hits and five runs in 3.2 innings.
Hannah Borgmeyer pitched 1.1 inning. She allowed eight hits and three runs.
