The Basics
Set 1: The Griffins couldn't have asked for a better start in the first taking a commanding 12-3 lead on Jadyn Fitzgerald's kill. Fontbonne finished with 15 kills and a match-high .306 hitting percentage as they dominated the opener, 25-16.
Set 2: Spalding found its rhythm in set two taking the lead at 10-9 and expanding it out to 17-11 on a double block from Kylie Stephens and Mya Summers. The Golden Eagles didn't relinquish its lead the rest of the way winning, 26-17.
Set 3: The Griffins held a marginal lead throughout, but the Golden Eagles evened it up at 22-22 on Hannah Holland's service ace. Fontbonne remained composed getting a service ace from Jessica Molden and consecutive kills from Hannah Gallagher secured the 25-23 win.
Set 4: After back-and-forth action it was the Golden Eagles holding a 20-14 lead. Fontbonne kept battling going on a 7-0 run forcing Spalding to take a timeout.
Out of the break, the Golden Eagles were able to fend off Fontbonne getting a service ace from Samantha Robison and a kill from Hannah Holland to force a fifth and final set.
Set 5: The Griffins held the advantage early and seemed to be in control with a 12-6 lead. However, the Golden Eagles got right back in the match going on a 7-0 run leading 13-12. After point-for-point play the Golden Eagles made its comeback complete winning 17-15.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Fontbonne finished with 57 kills and a .190 hitting percentage.
- Defensively, the team posted a season-high 93 digs.
- Jadyn Fitzgerald earned her 14th career double-double with a team-high 18 kills and 18 digs.
- Hannah Gallagher collected her 13th double-double with 14 kills, a .257 hitting percentage, and 15 digs.
- Ella Werner-Click earned her ninth career double-double with 47 assists and 12 digs.
- Emma Pramik set a career-high with 29 digs.
- Jessica Molden finished 10 digs.
