Men's soccer drops 3-2 decision against Iowa Wesleyan

LEBANON, Ill. - The men's soccer team competed against Iowa Wesleyan on Thursday night at McKendree University's Leemon Field and were defeated 3-2 in a match that saw the Panthers score the first and last goals of the contest.

Greenville took a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute when Jared McPeek scored his 11th goal of the season with an assist from Luis Duran.

Less than 30 seconds later, Iowa Wesleyan scored the first of its three first half goals, and IWU carried a 3-1 lead to halftime.

In the 66th minute, Jonathan Moyo delivered a critical goal for Greenville when he recorded his first goal of the season. McPeek added the assist.

Greenville managed to out-shoot Iowa Wesleyan 14-11, and both teams had seven shots on goal.

Panther goalkeeper Nick Holland stopped four shots as he collected four saves.

The Panthers (9-8, 5-3 SLIAC) will face Webster on Saturday in a match that will have direct bearing on the SLIAC tournament seeding. Currently, Greenville, Webster, and Westminster are all tied at 5-3 in the race for a position in the conference tournament.
