CARLINVILLE, ILL. — The Eureka volleyball team took down Blackburn in four sets earlier this season, but the Beavers swept the Red Devils in three at Blackburn on Tuesday.

Blackburn jumped on Eureka early and didn't take their foot off the gas, sweeping the Red Devils, 25-11, 25-17, 28-26.

Eureka struggled to provide an answer in the first set against Blackburn, only mustering 11 points; however, the Red Devils' offense was lively in the third and final set. After holding a 23-21 lead, the Beavers scored three straight points to take a one-point edge at 24-23.

They went on to close out the Red Devils, 28-26, to complete the sweep.

For EC, setter Sara Worrell (Jacksonville, Ill./Routt Catholic) distributed 26 assists and notched eight digs.

Megan Masching (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac) was the only Red Devils to reach double digits in digs, posting 10. Senior Ariel Campbell (Decatur, Ill./Cerro Gordo) chipped in with nine, while McKenzie Reiners (Milford, Ill./Milford) added five.

On Thursday, the Red Devils (5-17, 3-8 SLIAC) will travel back home to take on Webster (11-9, 4-5 SLIAC) at 7 p.m.
