Women's basketball wins at Covenant, opens 3-0

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The women's basketball team extended their season-opening winning streak to three with a 78-55 win at Covenant on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers received double-digit scoring efforts from five players in the win.

Greenville opened the game with a 28-12 advantage after the first quarter and made the score 46-21 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Panthers added five points to their lead with a 20-15 period, and Covenant shaved seven points from the lead with a 19-12 advantage in the final stanza.

Madelyn Stephen ended with 19 points to lead all scorers in the game. She made 8-of-12 shots, one three pointer, and two free throws.

Carolina Hoffman added 12 points, and Emily Reinneck provided 11 points. Abigail Reinneck and Savana Powell-Goodman each had 10 points.

Greenville's top rebounder was Maddy Meek with seven, and A. Reinneck added six assists. Hoffman posted four steals.

The Panthers (3-0) travel to Illinois College for a game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
