EUREKA — For the second time in three days, the Eureka baseball team picked up a non-conference victory on Wednesday.

Sean Green (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) went 3-for-4 with a triple, Gregory Cluskey (East Peoria, Ill./Metamora) notched his fifth win of the season on the mound and the Red Devils knocked off Rockford 6-3 at Henry Sand Field.

On a cloudy, relatively cool and occasionally rainy day in Eureka, the Red Devils tallied six runs on 10 hits, with all but one coming in the first two innings.

Following a leadoff triple by Green, Mike Redmond (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) put the Red Devils on the board with an RBI double. Two batters later, Dean Moir (Coal City, Ill./Coal City) brought Redmond home with a long single to right-center field and gave EC a 2-0 lead.

The Red Devils proceeded to tack on three more in the second after stringing together four hits. Drew Thoele (Teutopolis, Ill./Teutopolis) knocked a two-run single to right, and Moir drove in another run on a single to right. Both players finished with two RBIs.

The Regents' most productive inning came in the third, when they scored a pair on three hits and a sac fly to make it a three-run game.

EC posted an unearned run in the fifth to briefly extend the lead to four, but Rockford's Kyle Waugh belted a solo shot in the sixth to make it 6-3.

Cluskey fanned 10 batters, walked one and gave up six hits in eight innings of work for the Red Devils. Isaiah Davis (Morton, Ill./Morton) took over in the ninth and retired the side to record his first save of the season.

The win was the Red Devils' 11th of the season. They'll look to add to their total on Thursday when they take on Westminster on the road in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon.
