Fontbonne Softball Picks Up First Win On Year Over Centre
MONTGOMERY, Ala.— The Fontbonne University softball team earned a split on Sunday afternoon shutting out Centre 8-0 (6 inn.), but fell in the finale 11-1 (6 inn.) against Huntingdon. Head coach Ronni Knittig picked up her first career win.

Game One
Fontbonne 8, Centre 0 (6 inn.)
It was a scoreless game up until the fourth when Ashley Carrow, Grace Paez, and Makenzie Howell each hit consecutive singles to load up the bases.
Ellie Bartlett singled to center scoring Carrow for the 1-0 lead. Kami Matthews followed reaching on fielder's choice and Paez was able to score on the play making it 2-0.
In the fifth, the Griffins bats stayed hot with Allysa Ibarra and Patience Vandermierden leading off with back-to-back singles.
Carrow kept the line moving with an RBI single to left plating Ibarra. After another single by Paez, the Griffins made it a 5-0 game when Howell ripped a double to right scoring Carrow and Vandermierden.
Matthews had the sixth hit of the inning for the Griffins clearing the bases with a single to center scoring Howell and pinch-runner Kassidy Chrisco.
The Griffins added another run in the sixth off the bat of Paez and Matthews shut the door on Centre in the bottom of the inning for her first career win.

Game Two
Huntingdon 11, Fontbonne 1 (6 inn.)
The Hawks put Fontbonne in an early hole in the first scoring four runs on four hits, while the Griffins committed three defensive errors.
Fontbonne picked up a run back in the second when Carrow led off with a double. She later scored on Howell's single to left trimming the deficit to 4-1.
The Hawks, though scored one in the second, three in the fourth, and three in the sixth for the victory.
