How It Happened
After Fontbonne took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, the Spartans scored one in the second and took the lead in the fourth on Paul Dobravec's solo shot to center.
In the fifth, the Spartans put the game away scoring five runs highlighted by Justin Reinhardt's grand slam. From there, they were able to go on for the 12-run victory.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Braeden Dobbs led at the dish going 2-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI. He belted his third homer on the season in the eighth.
- Grant Staffen went 2-for-3, while Paul Wilson and Trey Kueper had a hit each.
- Lane Smith added one RBI.
- Ryan Howell was dealt the loss after allowing five earned runs in 5.0 innings and sitting down four.

How it Happened
The Spartans wasted no time getting on the board plating five runs on three hits to take the early lead in the first. Fontbonne got one of those runs back in the bottom half on Ty Kueper's RBI double which brought home Tyler Chambliss who led off with a double of his own.
The Spartans offense stayed hot adding on five more runs in the second to lead 10-1. The Griffins got a few of those back in the third.
With two on and one out, Dobbs came through with a double to left plating both Daniel Youngblood and Chambliss. Matt Manint followed with an RBI single of his own to center to make it a 10-4 game.
The Spartans, though added another in the fifth and two more in the sixth to lead by nine. The Griffins got RBI doubles from Dobbs and Manint once more in the seventh but Aurora was able to go on for the eight-run win.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Dobbs had another strong game going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a team-high three RBI.
- Manint finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.
- Eric Creech went 2-for-2 with a run scored.
- Ty Kueper contributed two hits and an RBI.
- Derek Morganthaler was dealt the loss after allowing three earned runs.
- Mike Jacobson and Jake Jump both combined for eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work out of the pen.

The team jumps into conference play this weekend when they'll host Blackburn. On Friday, they'll play at 3 & 6 p.m., and meet up again on Sunday at 1 & 4.
