Men's soccer defeats Blackburn 4-2

CARLINVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team picked up a 4-2 win at Blackburn on Tuesday. After being locked up in a 1-1 match at halftime, Greenville scored three second half goals to take control of the match.

Greenville got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Jared McPeek in the second minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Blackburn recorded the tying goal.

During the second half, the Panthers received a goal from Matt White in the 58th minute, and Napoleon Urquidi recorded the winning goal in the 70th minute.

Blackburn managed to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 85th minute, but Adam Jones scored in the 86th minute to give the Panthers some breathing room.

Overall, the Panthers attempted 39 shots and limited Blackburn to three.

Urquidi posted nine shots, and McPeek had six shots.

Goalkeeper Nick Holland only faced three shots, including two shots on goal.

The Panthers (9-7, 5-2 SLIAC) play Iowa Wesleyan on Thursday in Lebanon, Ill., at McKendree University. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
