Men's basketball drops 137-108 decision to North Central

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team hosted North Central on Saturday in their first home game in front of a home crowd since February of 2020 and were defeated 137-108 by the Cardinals.

Greenville led for the first 10 minutes of the contest, but the Panthers were unable to maintain the momentum for the duration of the game.  Greenville fell behind 66-54 at halftime and was outscored 71-54 in the second half.

GU newcomer L.J. Lampley finished as the Greenville leading scorer in the game with 20 points, making 7-of-11 field goal attempts and 6-of-9 three pointers.  He also added a team-leading six rebounds.

The Panthers constant pressure resulted in only 25 North Central turnovers, and Greenville only collected eight steals.  Trenton Lee posted two of GU's eight steals.

Greenville made 39.4 percent of its field goal attempts, knocking down 39-of-99 shots.  They made 20-of-61 three pointers and 10-of-16 free throws.  North Central made 56-of-79 field goal attempts, making over 70 percent of their shot and knocked down 24-of-37 free throws.

The Panthers (0-3) will go to Loras for a game on Wednesday night.
