Westminster Men’s Soccer Suffers Loss to Rose-Hulman

Terre Haute, Ind.– The Westminster men's soccer team was defeated by Rose-Hulman on Saturday by a score of 4-0. The Blue Jays fall to 0-7 with the loss.

The first half was a defensive battle with both sides holding the other scoreless. The Engineers registered three shots in the half and Westminster recorded two shot. The Blue Jays had the best scoring opportunity in the half when Brandon Rettke headed a corner kick on goal that was saved by the Rose-Hulman goalie. Rettke's header was the only shot-on-goal for either team in the half.

The Engineer offense came to life in the second half, scoring a goal off a rebound less than three minutes into the half to take a 1-0 lead. Rose-Hulman added a second goal in the 64th minute to go up 2-0. The Engineers added goals in the 70th minute and the 85th minute to win 4-0. Rose-Hulman recorded 14 shots in the half.

Chase Vogt played the final 45 minutes in net for the Blue Jays and recorded six saves in the half.

Rettke, Joe Wilder, Matthew Schulte and Aaron Guilliams each recorded a shot for Westminster.

The Blue Jays will close out their non-conference schedule at Grinnell on Tuesday Oct. 1 at 4:30 p.m.
