Eureka Falls to Bradley at Dozer Park
PEORIA, Ill. – Eureka College got a taste of NCAA Division I baseball Friday night when the Red Devils took on Bradley under the bright lights of Dozer Park.
The Braves got off to a robust start, quickly racking up an insurmountable lead en route to a 20-1 victory in seven innings.
Bradley pitcher Mitch Janssen held EC to zero earned runs on three hits and five walks while striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings.
Mike Redmond (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita), Braxten Ary (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) and Joe Quinn (Coal City, Ill./Coal City) were responsible for the Red Devils' hits on the night.
Quinn scored Eureka's lone run of the game in the third inning after a throwing error following Redmond's single.
Six Braves had multi-hit games. Connor O'Brien and Andy Shadid both homered, and Brendan Dougherty and Kyle Antos both had doubles.
With the loss, EC fell to 6-10 on the season. The Red Devils will look to rebound in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader against Fontbonne on Saturday at Henry Sand Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
