Women's Basketball Gets It Done On Both Ends Of The Floor In Win Over Spalding
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women’s basketball team picked up its first conference win on Thursday after knocking off Spalding, 69-47. The Griffins improved to 6-8 and 1-2 in the SLIAC. Spalding falls to 4-10 overall and 1-2 in SLIAC play.

Madison Nelson led the Griffins with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Mallory Ronshausen finished with 10 points, while Kourtney White added eight points and 15 rebounds.
In the first quarter, the Griffins grabbed a 12-4 lead on Madison Nelson's layup at 4:38. Fontbonne held its lead the rest of the way leading 17-14 after shooting 60.0 percent from the field.
In the second, the Golden Eagles trailed 17-16 at the 8:54 mark on Ma'kaylia Lute's layup. It was all Fontbonne until halftime as they outscored Spalding 19-4 to take a 36-20 advantage into the locker room.
Fontbonne shot 46.7 percent from the field in the second and hit three three-pointers. Defensively, the Griffins forced eight turnovers and 13 for the game.
In the third, the Griffins remained well ahead with Kya Harbour hitting her three-pointer at 5:15 making it a 45-21 game.
Fontbonne shot 45.5 percent from the field in the third, while Spalding was limited to a 12.5 field goal percentage allowing the Grifins to have a 51-27 advantage going into the fourth.
In the fourth, the Griffins never let the Golden Eagles get within single-digits as they cruised to the 22-point win.
Fontbonne shot 44.4 percent from the floor for the second straight game and hit 10 three-pointers. It's the third game in its last four the Griffins have hit at least 10 three-pointers.
On the defensive side, the Griffins held the Golden Eagles to a 28.1 field goal percentage and forced 20 turnovers.
