Women's basketball falls by five against Illinois College

FULTON, Mo. - The women's basketball came up on the short end of a 90-85 decision against Illinois College on Saturday at Westminster College.

The Panthers were tied 17-all after one quarter, and Illinois College held 39-34 and 61-53 leads after the second and third periods, respectively.

Greenville outscored Illinois College 32-29 in the final period but couldn't overcome the deficit.

GU led by as many as six in the first quarter and trailed by as many as 13 late in the fourth quarter.

Two players - Brittany Lopez and Clarissa Duebel - each ended with 14 points for Greenville.

Emily Reinneck and Haven Robertson each chipped in 13 points.

Lopez had an eight-assist afternoon, and Hannah Krukewitt led Greenville with six rebounds. Duebel managed to come away with three steals.

The Panthers (0-2) host St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Thursday in H.J. Long Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.
