Women's Basketball Drains Program Record 18 3-Pointers In Win Over Panthers
ELSAH, Ill.— The Fontbonne University women’s basketball team won its fourth straight game and sixth out of its last seven on Saturday after raining down a program record 18 three-pointers in an 82-63 victory over Principia. Fontbonne goes to 10-9 overall and 5-3 in the SLIAC. Principia goes to 10-6 overall and 5-3 in SLIAC play.

Four of the five starters reached double-figures in the win led by Mallory Ronshausen going 6-of-15 from downtown for 20 points. Ja'mise Bailey just missed a triple-double with 19 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists both of which are season-highs.
Kourtney White is 28 points away from 1,000 after putting up 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. She also added six boards, five assists, and four steals. Madison Nelson went 4-of-6 for 11 points. Kya Harbour knocked in three three-pointers for nine points.
In the first quarter, the Griffins jumped out to a 14-12 lead on Mallory Ronshausen's 3-pointer. Later, at 3:09, the Griffins led 18-14 on Ja'mise Bailey's layup. However, the Panthers closed out the quarter on a 15-2 run leading 29-20 after one.
The Griffins took over in the second quarter outscoring Principia 18-5 to take a 38-35 lead with 2:52 remaining on Bailey's 3-pointer.
Fontbonne kept its foot on the gas the final two minutes closing out the quarter on a buzzer beater three-pointer from Bailey once more for the 43-37 advantage at the break.
The Griffins outscored Principia 23-8 in the quarter shooting 44.4 percent and hitting five three-pointers. Ronshausen outscored Principia by herself with 11 points on three three-pointers.
In the third, the Panthers tried to keep the deficit within arm's reach as Araina Williams made her layup with 6:27 left putting the Panthers down 48-43.
However, the Griffins knocked in three more three-pointers over the next three minutes putting them on top, 58-45. Principia closed out the final minute on a 4-0 run, but still trailed 63-55 heading into the fourth.
Fontbonne knocked in five three-pointers in the third, while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor overall.
In the fourth, the Panthers got a layup from Carolina Rojas with 8:25 remaining trimming the deficit to 65-61.
Fontbonne put the game away from there closing out regulation on a 17-2 run for the 19-point victory.
Fontbonne shot 45.3 percent from the floor in the game and 40.9 percent from downtown. Principia ended the afternoon shooting 40.6 percent and went just 3-of-15 (20.0 percent) from beyond-the-arc.
