Spalding Tops Westminster Men’s Soccer in 2OT

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Westminster men's soccer team fell to Spalding tonight in 2OT. The Blue Jays drop to 0-9 on the season and 0-2 in conference.

In the first half Spalding outshot Westminster 5-2. Connor Bandre' recorded a pair of saves in the half on the only two shots-on-goal in the period.

The action picked up in the second half with the team's combining for 18 shots. 11 of those shots came from Spalding but Bandre' continued to hold the Golden Eagles scoreless. Bandre' registered five saves in the next to help force overtime.

In the first overtime period the Blue Jays controlled the ball for most of the period, tallying three corner kicks and two shots, but did not score. Spalding scored the game-winning goal at 106:19 to win the match 1-0.

Bandre' played the entire game in goal and made seven saves. Sam Heckart, Brandon Rettke and Jephte Ngendo each registered two shots for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays will return home to play Eureka at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
