Blackburn Women's Basketball falls to Greenville

The Blackburn Women's Basketball Team lost a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Greenville University Saturday afternoon.

 

Greenville displayed some great defense causing 28 turnovers and only allowing 32 points. Also holding Blackburn under 30 percent from the floor and under 15 percent from beyond the arc. In the first quarter the Panthers forced ten turnovers and allowed only seven points.  Greenville was able to maintain that lead and runaway with this game 83 to 32.

 

 

For the Beavers, Savannah Kruse led the team offensively. She played 35 minutes and scored 13 points. Kruse was 5 of 13 from the field and 1 of 4 from beyond the arc. Kruse also recorded four steals and grabbed seven rebounds. Callista Francis contributed with six points and ten rebounds off the bench. Francis shot 3 of 7 from the field and played 21 minutes.

 

 

Greenville was led by Haven Robertson as she scored 22 points. She shot 7 of 14 from the floor and 4 of 9 from three-point land.  Brittany Lopez followed Robertson with ten points off the bench. Lopez played 17 minutes and shot 4 of 7 from the field.

 

After a loss Blackburn falls to 4-10 (2-6 SLIAC) and Greenville improves to 8-6 (5-2 SLIAC). The Beavers will be back in action to host Spalding Wednesday January 22nd at 5:30.
