Blue Jays Take Third Place in the SLIAC Tournament

The Blue Jays played in two matches on the day, losing the first one to Greenville College and winning the second against Fontbonne. They clinched the third place finish with a 5-0 sweep over Webster.

In the first match, the Blue Jays fell in a tightly-contested match 5-3. Pete Hassenmueller and Scott Strough took home the singles victories for the Blue Jays, each winning in straight sets.

In doubles, the team of Reese Hicks and Pete Hassenmueller won their match against Austin Burkhart and Blake Gocey 8-4. Adam Fuchs and Scott Strough nearly won their match, but ultimately fell by a close score of 8-6.

Following Greenville, the Blue Jays cruised past their next opponent in Fontbonne, winning by a shortened score of 5-1.

Adam Fuchs and Scott Strough began the day for the Blue Jays with an impressive 8-1 victory in their doubles match. Pete Hassenmueller and Reese Hicks followed that performance with a victory of their own, winning by a score of 8-3.

In singles, Scott Strough, Reese Hicks, and Grant Peterson all knotched victories for the Blue Jays. All three players won fairly handley, with none of them conceding more than four total games in their respective matches.
